Why 'Niu' pathways?
The word Niu (pronounced 'new') has the same shared meaning and translation across all the pacific languages: coconut. It unites the Pasifika cultures whilst celebrating their uniqueness.
From its creation, the initial stages of niu are soft and fragile. We liken our Pasifika students' progress to be similar transitioning from high school to further education or the workforce are also new and fresh.
As the niu grows, the shell and flesh harden and can be transformed from a food source to a beauty product, versatile in its purpose. Our Pasifika students' similarly develop a versatile toolkit of skills applicable to a range of purposes.
When the niu sprouts and becomes a coconut tree, its strength and stature continue to support its village and community. Our Pasifika students will be equipped to make their mark in the world and strive for successful careers. The niu never grows alone, it is always surrounded by other niu.
